Joro's Retreat is a small mountain town completly filled to the brim with content and details! It has a very relaxing atmosphere and a 1700's small town look and feel. There were over 100 hours of work put into this town by two graphics artists with an eye for detail. This map has lots to look at with many unique buildings, all full of objects and details. But Joro's Retreat isn't all about relaxing, you can go frag a friend on your vaction here because this map is perfect for ffa and instagib! There are hideing spots and sniper spots everywhere but be careful, a camper will often find that they are either easily cornered or at a huge disadvantage.
Joro is the Goddess of the Earth in Norse Mythology. This map has a very earthly relaxed feel so enjoy the hot springs!

At first I wanted to create a map with an Eisenstern look and feel with loads of content and detail. Mostly this was an art show of many rpg building styles. They are not ment to be realistic but instead be artistic and pleasing to the eye. A lot of effort was put into this map to make it feel immersive even with limited resources. One goal of the map was to see how immersive we could make a simple little town with the content provided with this engine. Therefore there are no additional models, textures, or other media in this map except what we found that came with the Sauerbraten release at this time.

Added two textures to be used at paintings. Place these into your packages/agnx folder. Changed particles for waterfall effects to particles 9 259 8 0xbbb and particles 9 259 4 0xbbb to make it more realistic. Also payed more attention to pictures esuring all of them had picture frames. Raised the rug in the library.

Greatly optimized geometry by hand, by simplifying the mountains. Raised the height of some cliffs and added clipping so you can not get on top of the cliffs. Fixed more places where players could get stuck. Placed 7 bases for Caputre!! Fixed landscape irregularities. Made the sun light less yellow! Although it is not reflected in the screenshots yet (if ever).
