The Starship Enterprise from the original TV show. The whole ship. all 2 million+ square feet.

The Constitution Class Starship Enterprise from the show; 26 decks, 2 million+ square feet, 1.2 million blocks (after optimization). Not really a practical deathmatch map, as it's WAY too big and the design was not optimized for DM (e.g., lots of rooms with only one entrance or exit, etc). It's also not set up for single player. Think of it more as a sort of modern art- it exists for it's own sake.

Not a lot of license restrictions- details are in the readme file. Basically, feel free to copy it or modify it, just give credit back where it's due and if you do something really cool, I want to know about it.

could it be you forgot the .ogz file?

try packing it in the common manner when you add it, hats: create a folder named packages in which you put enterprise.ogz and the folder enterprise.

MovingTarget | 2008-05-23 16:19

He didn't forget it, but it's not in packages/base, where it should be.

dangerstripedan | 2008-05-23 16:24

The map was built to be easily portable; You could simply copy the Enterprise folder into a packages directory and it would work, so I put everything is in that one directory.

To load the map, open a console and type "map Enterprise/Enterprise" and it will load up.

schmutzwurst | 2008-05-23 16:36

Wow. very impressive. Must have been a syssiphus kind of work, incredible!

Well done!

Homicidal (not verified) | 2008-05-23 20:58

I LOVE it a few things tho have you tried using map sounds ?
it would be very cool if you could find some samples of the sounds from the show consoles beeping red alert sounding phrases firing ect ect

also you many wan't to hide the telaport model's from the player 2 keep the theme you can make fake transporter pads by carving out a box sticking the telport inside and nocliping the roof so when you step on you fall down into the telaport

dangerstripedan | 2008-05-24 01:40

I don't think I can hide the teleports in the turbolifts that way; Most of the lift cars have things under them. I wonder if I can do something with the teleport texture, though? make it small (or non-existent)..

I thought about the sounds and played with them for a while, but ended up leaving them out because what I needed were some good Star Trek sound loops, and many of the spots on the ship still wouldn't have a good sound to go in there; I mean, what does one have play in the 200 odd staterooms?

I'm glad you like the map; How many easter eggs have you found in there?

Osbios | 2008-05-24 17:18

In the CVS version and so in the next release is it possible to chose a model or disable it for the teleporter.

To disable the model set var2 to -1, like that "newent teleport NUMBER -1"

But you cant change the sound. :/

alex256 | 2008-06-05 00:20

you can change the sound of teleport actually.go to packages/sounds/free and replace teleport.wav or .ogg with your own sound.you can download audacity (a free audio editing software) and record the sound you prefer.then export the sound as an .ogg or .wav then name it teleport and place it in the packages/sounds/free folder.and bam you have changed the teleport sound.=) it works...i changed the corny sounding jumppad this way. "boing" now has a "whoosh" sound. hope this helps someone.=)if you have any questions you can reach me at warrioreggman@yahoo.com .....I'll try to get to your question soon as possible.

SheeEttin | 2008-06-05 02:02

True, but then you've overwritten the regular teleport sound, and you'll be hearing that sound on every map from now on.
He just wants it for this map.

alex256 | 2008-06-05 14:11

maybe i can figure out a command line for a cfg to make it so he can change the sounds for just that map.if at all possible.i'll work on it.

MeatROme | 2008-06-05 15:31

..we get a "resetsounds" command;
they're hardwired into data/sounds.cfg.

zoozie | 2008-07-07 16:16

you dont have to hide the tele just type "/newent teleport tag -1" the -1 refers to the mapmodel u get when u scroll backwards alot

Homicidal (not verified) | 2008-05-23 22:51

also I notice a few spots that would work better with particles instead of the colored water your useing deflector control ect also the bridge view screen is better off using the skybox texture instead of the custom on you have sauerbraten has changed A lot there are many things you could do now that where out of the question when you started it more textures map sounds more ents ect ect i think you could play around some more to get it really rock'n

like try /loadsky mayhem/eclipse 1.2 for a spining skybox note the # after the skybox can be changed and will work with any sky box

dangerstripedan | 2008-05-24 01:47

Yeah, they didn't have particles when I did the deflector control. It might be worth looking into.

I tried using glass reflecting the skybox on the viewscreen, but I couldn't get it to look right, which was a shame- it had a nice TV look to it, but it was just too dark.

It can hold more textures (well, I think it can; Who knows how much space all of those env maps take up), but that's more of a limit on my part, both in time and imagination. The map is geometrically complex because that's what I think I'm good at. Artwork is certainly not my forte.

If you have any specific suggestions, let me know and I will see if I can do something with those. I am not adverse to releasing an update.

Homicidal (not verified) | 2008-05-24 05:52

there is a see though texture that just shows the skybox but nothing else /exec data\default_map_settings.cfg it should be one of the first in the list looks blueish then you can change the viewer texture "i already have on my copy" it looks nice

digitalspaghetti | 2008-05-24 12:35

Very nice map! A real work of art this one. I'm glad to say I found one easter egg, your Babylon 5 starfigher :)

Jorge | 2008-05-24 13:57

I found the Battlestar Galactica fighters and the "Duke Nukem Forever... coming soon". Nice to see that not everything will change in the future ;D

Really a cool map. Maybe when I've time I'm gonna steal your idea of minigolf ;)

dangerstripedan | 2008-05-24 15:09

Hmmm. No one mentioned the Eagle from Space: 1999. Too obscure?

There are a lot of easter eggs in that map, although most of them are smaller than the Starfury or the Eagle. The list of easter eggs is about a page long.

Has anyone found the crates of Soylent Green, or the Weyland-Yutani boxes? Or the Hoovooloo? (Even I admit that one is pretty obscure)

Or has anyone found one of the "You shouldn't be here lounges"? There are at least 6 of them; I say at least because I found one the other day I had forgotten about.

MovingTarget | 2008-05-24 22:20

I found the crates. I also found the "Mindless crap" signs.

Sweet map by the way.

Justin | 2008-05-25 13:37

it's so big it barly runs on my pc. ) : From what I could see though it looks great! and yes, while you can't make perfect circles you can fool the humen eye so that it lookes like a circle.(check out map spiralz in old maps)

keep up the
great work! 5/5

Dracion | 2008-05-26 16:06

Nice map, I can see you put quite a bit of effort into this and it shows :). Found quite a few of the easter eggs, though I was disappointed that the suicide booth didn't work (if you put a jumppad of value -27000 it acts like a suicide spot).

crich70 | 2008-05-31 07:42

I noted the apparent reference to Galaxina via the lost rock monster ad. lol. As I recall the gentlemen that provided the voice for the villain in that movie also made appearances in classic Star Trek (he headed the court martial of Capt. Kirk when it was thought that the Capt. had killed a crewman). Alas, he (Percy Rodrigues) like Ms. Stratten is no longer with us. He died last sept. of kidney problems.

gordo | 2008-06-01 18:39

lol what floor is the teleport room on? xD

great map

FREAK-w00t | 2008-07-05 15:22

Hey dude listen....
I cannot believe the work you put into this map.
I can't even begin to describe how well you did.
I mean...
All the work on this map!!!
How long did this take you??!?!
I mean the geometry alone must have taken at least 6 years but then u light it all up and then add all kinds of custom textures and everything!!!
Calcing the lights every time you add some new ones must take years!
Then you fine tune them all and recalc again and again!
I mean seriously dude!
You deserve so much attention for this work!
I bow down to you!
I want to meet you some day and have a coop session!
I would love to see what kinda things you can make in a free, make whatever you want coop.
I would love to see what you can make!
I have explored that entire ship very well and it was tons of fun playing instagib team on it with my friends and giving coordinates on where we were and stuff.

FREAK-"Biggles where are you man? I'm on deck 21!"
Biggles-"I'm on deck 17 hiding in the Mcronald's refrigerator!"
FREAK-"Ok I'm on my way....wait Biggs I just heard firing on deck 21!"
Biggles-"Roger that FREAK! I'll come to you!"
FREAK-"Biggs I just saw jochi out in the massive cargo bay near the fighter platform!"
Biggles-"Ok lets meet up at the disco room so we can hunt him down"
FREAK-"K biggs meet ya there!"

O man good times dude....
The work you did on this is so incredible.
I understand how hard it was to make this all.
I hate it when people just look at some one's map and then leave.
I take into perspective the time they have taken to make their work and all the little details that they made even though most people won't even recognize them.
I am so surprised that this wasn't included in the new release.
Perhaps it was the file size of the textures?
I'm not sure but this map is one I'm not ever going to forget.
Every time I am making a map I'll remember how awesome your map was and that will inspire me.
You did such a great job on this.

CC_machine | 2008-07-06 19:06

team instagib on this map is EPIC.

also, this makes for one mega-hard DMSP map.

thank you so so much for this! anybody else found the Tardis near the warpcore?

FREAK-w00t | 2008-07-06 23:27

I agree 100% :P
And yeah i found that too lol :D

zoozie | 2008-07-07 16:20
