Blurb This is just a quick idea I whipped up as a really neat function. However, it's single-client only! So unfortunately, concept.

Detailed description

I came up with the idea thinking that chatcolors went through to every client's screens.

I was wrong.

So you have this little piece of junk that adds a menu to set your chatcolor as you see it.

Instructions: Copy the .cfg file to chatcolors.cfg in your base Sauer folder. Run Sauer, perform /exec chatcolors.cfg, and press F8. Choose the color you want your text to appear in for you. Don't exec it again until you want to change the color AND you've shut down Sauer since the last exec.

So yeah, I'm submitting this just so the sauerbraten devs have a new idea. *coughCHATCOLORScough*

You can probably send text in colors by using the character used to set colors. Explanation here.

Me and that other GreyMario are one in the same.

After some testing of this mod on one of the many servers, funkay stated that the text came through as green when I had it set to purple or blue.

Well, it's actually transmitted but de-colourized on the client side ;-)
Anyway - I posted this some time ago upon a similar question Cube Forum.

For deactivating the de-colourization - simply comment out the line "filtertext(text, text);" below the "SV_TEXT"-case in fpsgame/client.h ... but, of course, that only helps those clients that use this modified engine!
Your GUI isn't very user-friendly;
how about a list of buttons for each colour above an input-field (compare the player-name input-field in data/menus.cfg) ... and just pressing the button for a new colour !?! ;-)

What are you talking about? The GUI is as clean as possible and you should never have to open it again until you want to change the color. In which case, you just exec chatcolors.cfg and then press F8.

Ah, okay - if that's all you want to achieve then you're right - the GUI works fine for that :)
I was expecting that you were (see the "subject" of my last post) planning to have the ability to e.g. change the colour for each character individualy ... anyway, you can't easily modify a guifield from outside ... so just ignore the comment above :-P

When I type that (with a 1 next to it) next to my servername, It isn't blue, and in the command line, it is a female symbol next to a 1, and in the server lister its normal colored.
